The Mahanayake Theras of three Nikayas have forwarded a letter to the President and the Prime Minister regarding the controversial SAITM issue.
The letter bears the signs of The Mahanayake of Malwathu Chapter Most Ven.Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala,Mahanayake of Asgiriya Chapter Most Ven.Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thera, Mahanayake of Amarapura Maha Nikaya Most Ven Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thera, and Mahanayake of Ramannya Maha Nikaya Most Ven. Napane Premasiri Thera.
The Government Medical Students’ Parents’ Union and SAITM Parents’ Forum, have requested the Mahanayake Theras to intervene into the SAITM issue and to direct the government to provide a solution.
Accordingly, the Mahanayake Theras have requested the President and the Prime Minister to provide a suitable solution for the SAITM matter which is favorable for both the parties involved in the matter.
“The SAITM matter had not only affected the Medical Education and the Medical field of the country but had affected the public as well. Therefore, it is wise to take a decision regarding the issue without any further delay,” the letter said.
